Just don't keep the fire wood in your house. When you bring it in it is going right into the fireplace and that will kill whatever creepy crawlies are on it.

I'm gonna guess that they are probably termites. The only way we can tell you what they are is with a picture or a much better description. You might consider having an exterminator have a look because if you have termites then you may to have your property treated.

Anything that lives on a log won't live on an animal, and vice versa, so don't worry what they are, they'll be dead soon enough when you light the fire!

if you can see them there probley ticks, not fleas,
spray it with a bug killer.
