What if I order a Dell Inspiron 1420 notebook now, the said preliminary ship date is 12/28/2007 (more than two weeks).
What is the estimated date for me to recieve my order?

What does the preliminary ship date really means? Can somebody elaborate it more clearly. And why has Dell moved its preliminary shipped date more than 2 weeks from now? The preliminary ship date is usually 2 weeks from the date of order. This info can be seen in their site.

Thanks for does who can help me.

There is this little thing called Christmas coming up in a few days. Like most merchandisers, Dell sells about as many computer in November/December as it does the entire rest of the year. So getting one during that time usually takes a little longer.

I order a lot through Dell (we have about 1,400 Dells that I support), and usually they "beat" their estimated shipping date. They would rather put it a week in the future and then beat it, then make it too soon and miss it.

But around Christmas time, no promises....

I order from Dell all the time for my clients. Dell gives you a preliminary ship date far in advance so that people don't keep on calling them about the status of an order. Generally, if they have all the items in stock and when you placed the order, none of the items say "this will increase the ship time", you can expect them to ship the order around 2-3 days after you receive the confirmation email. Then comes the time for the carrier to bring it to your doorstep, if you shipped via UPS ground, then it will take up to 5 business days depending on how far away you are from their warehouse.

Speaking of which, I ordered 6 laptops for clients on Monday at around 4:45 EST, and I just got the email this morning stating they shipped. According to DHL (the carrier), I can expect the shipment by 12-6, which is a mere 3 days after my placing the order.

Fuel: about an ounce less than too much. Angle: Ummmmmm . . . 34 degrees from the horizontal, taking into account crosswinds, headwinds, tailwinds, and how much weight an African swallow can carry and at what rate. Should be fun! Good point, David! (lol)
