This position in a way underlines the brand name.
It could have been at 1:50 also.
But at 10 past 10 it also signifies the Right Tick symbol which psychologically punctuates the brand name in the viewer's mind.
This is part of Ad strategy.
Answer by Ashish seems that invention of watch / clock was a momentary effort like birth taking place at acertain time.

This is because when u put that time. it shows all details and do not block any view of the watch, like name of the company, type etc. thats why all the watches show that time.

10 past 10, yeah.
I've noticed that too.
Guess that it's just a good way to show all the hands on the watch without them obscurrring each other in any way?
Otherwise, I really do not know!
