This position in a way underlines the brand name.
It could have been at 1:50 also.
But at 10 past 10 it also signifies the Right Tick symbol which psychologically punctuates the brand name in the viewer's mind.

This is because when u put that time. it shows all details and do not block any view of the watch, like name of the company, type etc. thats why all the watches show that time.
