Most likely it is the power supply. Usually if there is a "surge", it will damage the supply, but get no further. That protects the rest of the PC. Cheaper to replace a $30 power supply then a $150 system board, a $100 processor and all the other parts.
Try replacing the power supply.

the only thing you needed plugged into the protector is the PC the others wont matter if you get a power serge or loss

Sounds like it is the power supply on the computer. If the computer is within a year old, it should be under warranty, check with the manufacturer. If not, you will have to either take it to the computer shop or replace the power supply on your own.

take it to the store, and have them test the power cable that you are using, and the power supply inside your computer
