Im getting induced tommorow morning and was wondering what i should eat. The hospital admittance form says "regular diet" on it so im assuming i can eat in the morning. (Im going to call and make sure though) My question is do you have any suggestions on what i should eat before i go in at 6:30 in the morning? OR any suggestions on what i should eat tonight before bed? I am a very nauseated person, i can almost guarentee i will be throwing up the whole time in labor! Im just looking for food ideas that wont be bad vomiting back up OR make me have to use the bathroom!

You need protein and carbs. Think of birth like an athletic event.

Plenty of fluids - water, diluted juice, electrolyte-balanced beverages, protein drinks, smoothies
Toast or bagel with jam
Cereals - hot or cold
Eggs
Pancakes
Pasta (light sauce or parmesan)
Tea with sugar or honey
Sorbet or ice cream
Jello
Baked or mashed potato
Soup - clear broths are a great choice
Bananas
Applesauce
Yogurt
Granola or cereal bar
Popsicles

Also avoid heavily-sweetened juice. It's even better to dilute what you are drinking. A high sugar content can increase nausea and acid in your stomach.

Talk to your doc about eating *IN* labor as it's a good way to keep your energy up.

Eat stuff with a lot of protein...early induction isnt bad...you probably will have several hours of just ice chips...so you want to eat enough protein to keep you going for a good long time.

Try eggs, toast and a meat of some sort. Avoid acid foods or sugary foods...they will only cause stomach upset.

Good luck...sorry you have to be induced.

Energy food is my advice. Pasta for dinner tonight, for breakfast I would suggest some OJ, toast and cereal, and a banana. Also, stay hydrated today, drink plenty of water. Good Luck tomorrow. My induced labor was long, so be prepared. Congratualtions...

Dont eat sugars, have some lean protein of some kind.

You dont have to eat you could always just have a liquid meal.

I was in labor 2 days and couldnt eat or drink, i just couldnt make myself. It didnt hurt me at all.
