Once and egg is released from an ovary, it's only around for about 24 hours, before it travels down the fallopian tube, to the uterus.

sperm can stay in you and active for 3-5 days so go at it before you ovulate. then they are there waiting for the egg.

in my case it was only 12 hr. Until I realized that, we couldnt get pregnant because of the wrong timing. So dont think that you always have 36hr.

normally about 24 hours and if fertilized it will start to travel down to the uterus if it is not fertilized than it will disntigrate (however you spell it) and then you will have your period
