I know people that i really cant stand but whose intelligence and confidence i really admire.
Which would you rather have - likeability or admiration?
Please explain why.

80s kid - not all admired people are liked - as i said i know some people who i very much admire, but really strongly dislike.
Strangely I like and admire all 3 of my closest friends. But i have some friends whom i just like, and dont admire at all

great question. I think admired as it shows respect and that I am doing something that others see as unique or individual. To me, being admired requires pushing a boundary or doing something others may not feel able or confident to do.

Liked I think. In some way I admire most of the people I like so I hope it would work the other way around. Besides, what good is it being admired by a thousand people if you have no friends?

Likeability for me - but thats just a personal thing! I'm a people pleaser... and anyway they often go hand in hand. If I like someone chances are I also admire them too...even if its just for being a good friend! but it doesn't always work the other way round as you've said.... interesting question to ponder over!

i dont need to be liked by most folks only a few important people that i actually admire and like. i would rather be admired though its too easy for someone to stop liking you because of what u do or dont do for them.

I'd rather be admired. You can't be liked by everyone you come in contact with but admiration is something that you exude to don't.

Admired. I'm pretty independent and when I make decisions and choices, I don't ever worry much rather or not I'm liked. It's much better to be respected.
