Kindness can be seen if you look for it...I have witnessed lots of smiles, doors being opened for me, being given the "right of way" in stores with my cart (if only they would do that when I'm in my car!! LOL!). These acts of kindness mean a LOT when the stores get so very crazy around this time of year. We are all out there doing our holiday thing..the least we can do for each other is to be civilized. I know I do my part in making this hectic time as pleasant as I possibly can! I have gone as far as allowing a forgotten item rung up on my order so she didn't have to ring it up separately. It wasn't very expensive, it was much more convenient for all and it made her day! It's the little things that count.

I donated to the soldiers gift boxes, I tip the kids at the grocery store when they take my cart out, which i normally do, but I give them 5 bucks instead of 2. I tend to be a little more friendly/talkative to strangers during the holidays and I will feed some of the elderly that live around me on Christmas Day as they have no family in the area.

My wife: We had advertised a pre-lit artificial Christmas Tree, like new for $125./ firm. I really wanted $150. A young single mother came to look at it and asked if I would hold a check for $25. 'til Fri., she had only $100. in cash. My wife jumped in and said..."No...you can have the tree for the $100!" That was her act of kindness to a struggling young mother. Note: when I loaded the tree into her "brand new" hatchback, she said she had just purchased it and didn't even know how to put down the rear seats! Oh, well!

OK, most people wouldn't consider this kindness but it soothed the savage beast in me one time while braving the madness of the mall.

I guy stood near the entrance to one of the stores and played the most beautiful music on a trumpet. No collection plate. Just dressed nicely and playing beautifully.
