In today's world sadly it's a good credit rating. No one cares if the person with the good credit is a murderer or a thief or whatever they just look at that credit score. People with low credit scores could have had bad things happen to them and they were unable to pay their bills but still be a very good person. It's not fair.

Character is more important to someone you just meet, but when it all boils down the credit rating is by far more important in this day and age, because no one wants to be affiliated romantically or marry someone who is already burdened with debt.....

in today's world... it's credit rating. I could give a sh!t about that though, as long as there are explainable circumstances such as divorce or disability or the like.

Credit can be bought.... Character can't.

Regardless of what kind of rate some companies ‘ll give you, good character is more important. It probably will not be immediately rewarded, however.

Having both is even better.

Sadly, good credit is more important. It doesn't matter how nice, kind and honest you are, you are not going to get that car loan, mortgage, student loan, etc. without good credit.
