Yes there are things that can go faster than the speed of light. But, what alot of professors will tell you is that.....the things that will travel faster than light do not carry information. For instance, there are things in waves mechanics called group velocity and phase velocity. The phase velocity travels faster than the speed of light. For example in white light the phase velocity of all the constituant colors are quite varied, and some travel faster than light...but, when they are group liked that they have no meaning....the only meaning that it has in the real world is to be seen as white light...which moves at the speed of light. Same goes from radio waves.

Another thing to be aware of is that in relativity, nothing moves faster than the speed of light if you are in the same reference frame. Meaning..that if you accelrate with respect to light ...the measure light velocity can be faster than light.

Lastly there are thorectical particles that move faster than light..for example tacheons.

Can you send a link to where you read about theat german scientist. Hope my answer helps a bit.

I haven't heard about the particle you mention. As far as I know nothing having any mass can go faster than light, but there are geometrical things like the point where two giant scissor blades intersect as they are closed, or points on interfering wave fronts that can move faster than c.

I suppose these don't count as "things" but are more on the order of "nothings." As Dr. Bill Harter likes to say, "Nothing CAN go faster than light!"

I agree with the second answer you got. Defintely, THOUGHT! I carry out Astral Projection as an exercise in occult development. I like to visit a planet in the orbit of Sirius, very similar to ourselves here on Earth but morally and spiritually much more advanced. Whenever I leave my physical body I have only got to think myself there, and I am there. Light would take over 8 years to make it. I can go at whatever speed I wish.

Yes there is, although the speed of thought cannot defeat the speed of light, which is 299 792 458 m / s. If you can make light slower, like passing it through water or glass, then there are some particles that could pass through water or glass faster than light.

Some things may go with a speed faster than that of sound.but i don't think anything is as fast as light.
