Definitely! I work in this line and banks will rarely refund charges at the first time of asking! At the moment there is a test case to be heard in the high court early next year re overdraft charges but for late direct debits etc. you should argue that the charges should not exceed the cost of the work involved. Office of fair Trading have set this at £12.00 and you can threaten to refer your case to the OFT if the bank is being unfair!

There is no need to incur solicitors charges to do this as there are many online sites with pro-forma letters which you can use!

Yes Definately. I have JUST received my first responce form the solicitors dealing with my claim. They have successfully agreed a rebate from the 1st credit card company of £1,245.00 They work on a No Win No Fee basis, so worth the effort. All I had to do, was provide them with ALL my credit / debit card details, ALL my bank account details and they contacted the banks to get hold of bank statements for the last 6 years.

So now have five credit card companies and four bank accounts to wait for..... Go On The Solicitors, and Very Merry Xmas i say.

Do It, dont let the banks get away with it. Im SO glad I started the ball rolling.

There are hundreds of companies on the net, but I used a company called Robertson Holbrook on 0845 33 00 665

I can recommend them, hope you find them as helpful.

Good Luck

You can not dispute legitimate items on your file. If a collection agency was calling your, you were already late and in collections. You were very foolish to give a collection agency direct access to your bank account. There are many tales of bank accounts being hit repeatedly for unauthorized extra amounts. Depending on what state you are in, that recording could be illegal. Some states you have to notify all parties that the call is being recorded. I'm sure you didn't inform the collector you were recording. She would have immediately hung up.

I used to work in a bank and if customers phoned up to complain enough they got their money refunded because the teller could not be bothered arguing with them anymore. It is worth it.

sometimes yes it is.when the news came out,a few years ago about unreasonable charges the ones who did bother to complain ,got some money back,or their charges reduced.I think if we all started putting the money under the bed, banks would become usless.

I recently got £2800 back from Barclays for the sake of a couple of letters. Well worth it.

Yes, yes, yes. Do it.. If more people did it, the banks would have to think twice before overcharging and maybe they would train their staff properly.
