Most of the time it is a painless tightening sensation, and you can almost see your belly tighten up into a little basketball (easier to see in later pregnancy). It's like if you wore a girdle that was too tight around your belly. It lasts for about a minute or less and then goes away.

Braxton Hicks are sporadic uterine contractions that honestly begin at approximately 6 weeks, even though you will not be equipped to consider them that early. You most likely would possibly not begin to discover them till someday after midpregnancy, should you discover them in any respect (a few ladies do not). They get their identify from John Braxton Hicks, an English health care professional who first defined them in 1872. As your being pregnant progresses, Braxton Hicks contractions generally tend to return reasonably extra almost always, however till you get on your final few weeks, they must stay rare, abnormal, and basically painless. Sometimes, although, Braxton Hicks are rough to differentiate from early indicators of preterm hard work. Play it riskless and do not attempt to make the prognosis your self. If you have not hit 37 weeks but and you are having 4 or extra contractions in an hour, or have another indicators of preterm hard work, name your caregiver instantly. By the time you are inside a few weeks of your due date, those contractions would possibly get extra excessive and extra widespread, and intent a few soreness. Unlike the prior painless and sporadic Braxton Hicks contractions that brought about no seen cervical difference, those would possibly support your cervix "ripen": regularly melt and efface, and possibly even start to dilate a little. This interval is normally known as "pre-hard work."

23 weeks. I WISH lol. I have been having them (2nd baby) since I was 12 weeks. Apparently always being on the go and doing stuff causes them to happen earlier. I got them early with my daughter, around 20 weeks.
They shouldn't hurt, they can be uncomfortable. If you think you're having one feel with your hand. If your belly is tight(up to your fundus) then your are. It's a strange feeling, tightening. They can become a pain in the butt though, lol. When I have one, after they stop my baby moves and has a little kick. Like s/he's telling me off, lol.
If it's just a bloated feeling it's probably not braxton hicks. If you get them you will feel them and only last 20-40 second. Still when you think are having them feel your tummy, that will definitely clear it up whether or not you are having them. You will feel it being tight.

u will no!!! your stomach will go very hard to the touch and u may feel uncomfortable, they only last a short time 30-90 secs and then your stomach goes back to normal, they are normally inconsistent and come irratically (mine came whan shopping mostly, and when i was due), u may also experience a mild cramp or a constipated feel, u should be able to tell them from real contractions as they should fade off(not regular) and not get any stronger. x x all women are different tho and that is just from my experience of them x x congrats and all the best x x

Braxton-Hicks feel like a tightening and relaxing of the uterus. Your stomach will harden or contract (usually painlessly) and then slowly relax. It kind of feels like a balloon being inflated in your tummy and then the air slowly goes out. Later in pregnancy they might be uncomfortable or painful and you might feel a little short of breath during one.

From my experience, braxton hick's are when your tummy gets tight, they can sometimes be a bit uncomfortable but if your up and moving about they can come without you realizing they are there.

Best way I can describe it is it feels like the baby is stretching out in your tummy. I did not know I was having them with my first. My doctor was actually getting worried then one day in the car, i told my mom, feel what the baby is doing, she is making a little ball. My mom was like, that is a contraction... duh!
