i got the 3 mbps package for verizon. and when i check the speed for it, it said it was 1.5 mbps. does anyone know what the problem is?

All of Verizon's packages are sold with the ol,, up to 3mbs speed. They do not guarantee that you will get that. However, if you are consisitantly getting that 1.5 speed check the following items. If you still only get that speed CALL VERIZON!

First reboot the modem Leave it off at least 1 full minute.

1. Connect directly to the modem using ethernet cable (no wireless because it will be LESS speed) check the speed.
2. Check at least three different times of day (morning, afternoon, and evening).
3. Check your wireless speed, if it is a lot less you have a card compatibility issue. Change wireless channels, SSID, and as a last option, wireless cards. Check without WPA or WEP and with them many times they create large drops! If you see a large drop update your computer software, change your card -- its not the router.

4 Call Verizon.

your package is 3 mbps but it is not always like that...because it is depending how far are you from the central office of verizon.the farther your house is, the slower your dsl will be.
