Wouldn't the world be a nicer place?

I hope those who so vehemently and vocally lept to an 'outraged' defence were humbled by her words upon landing at Heathrow this morning. Not a shred of hatred, anger or religious dicsrimination in sight!

I have a huge amount of respect for the woman and was pleased that she was so keen to stress that she had not meant to cause offence - clearly taking the customs, culture and laws of her host country seriously as opposed to mocking them as was done on here!

Well done Gillian and welcome back!

Yes it would. We can do with less hysteria whenever something goes wrong.

Yahoo answers would certainly be quieter- look at the jokey mickey-taking tone of many questions that would not be out of place in a School playground.

PS I'm impressed with all the nice positive responses this question has recieved

I agree. Especially when she said she didn't want this to put other people off visiting Sudan. It was clear from her statement that she still (and always did) have respect for the country. It's a pity they didn't realise that in the first place.
