Down Syndrome affects the facial structure, so you can tell by their face and Autism varies in it's severity, so it is not always self evident in their behaviour. Autism's behavioural symptoms include lack of emotion, lack of recognition, not coping well with change, delayed/little or no speech and in some cases a high pitched squeal but both afflictions need to be diagnosed by a professional.
