Some ghosts do emanate a smell. My grandma smells my grandpa's cigarettes in the house 9 years after he died. My grandpa often smelled his grandpa's pipe in their favorite hunting spot decades after he died. It could be possible that a mischievous or malevolent ghost could be causing a foul stench.

It's best to rule out all natural explanations before turning to ghosts. It could be a family member who's not admitting to it, a pet, sewer gases coming through the drain, a ruptured sewer line close by, etc. Once every natural explanation has been ruled out, then consider ghosts.

My late husband used to say that
Baby Powder smelled just like
an angel fart, so if they fart,
I suppose the rest of the spirit
world could fart as well.
If you have a pet, that also
might be your problem.

no but they do emit odors that were associated with them in life.
Or he could just be trying to get your attention.

On the off chance that it is not a ghost, try looking under everything for a stray slice of pizza or chicken. if it is und the sofa and you don't see it, the smell could be overwhelming at times.
