I believe that Gillian's attitude despite her ordeal shows that the Sudan people have lost a great educator.

Despite everything she still has good things to say about Sudan and it's people. I think it shows great strength and substance of character. I feel sorry that she has gone through this ordeal and I feel sorry for her pupils who have lost a great teacher.

There are so many out there who have jumped on the bandwagon of trashing all Muslims on the back of this controversy, yet despite being in the centre of it she remains positive towards the people.

She is truly a wonderful role model.

What do you think?

Of course you're absolutely right.
Shes a fantastic role model who obviously sees the big picture. One needs dignity & courage to forgive. Shes got both.

I'm happy that shes done a great job teaching the world a lesson in way she reacted to this entire fiasco!

Her positive comments about the sudanese people are a great contrast to the average reaction of the man in the street, and show both how one-sided our media coverage can be, and also how easily jingoistic sentiments can be whipped up among the general public. This is why governments never find it hard to take us along with them to war.

Yes, it's good to see that she's seen past this situation and is still giving Sudan a good reputation. I can't believe that they were ready to kill her, when all she was trying to do was to help their education

Such a pity - I feel the same sympathy you do.

Yes I agree with you. She sounds a genuinely nice lady and probably a very good teacher. Their loss.

Something to tell her grandchildren.
