* I love getting phone calls but for me it isn't easy to take phone calls due to static in the background! It becomes dangerous to talk on the phone due to power surges*
I don't know that emails are a 'better' way but they are an alternative*

Absolutely - I've been using emails over phone calls for the past 12 years.... ratio 98% emails to phone calls.
I am not worried it is unsociable.. most of my family and friends are overseas anyhow..... and I used to be a website designer so dealing with clients is easier on the 'old emails!

I hope not! Nothing beats face to face communication! Second to this is voice to voice. And lastly other forms of text communication. Why because you don't get the other cues from text....i.e. tone of voice, facial expressions, body language. I stress this to my children all the time because technology will, I believe, be detrimental, on some levels, to forming good relationships with friends and also those you wish to influence.

i don't know that it is a better way, but is becoming more commonplace, a lot of the older generation aren't online so i still makes heaps of phone calls

yes but i prefer phone calls ,for me a student who studying abroad i prefer calls you can hear the voice and know whats going on in the house ,who's crying or upset ,it makes you feel close .
