Of course you aren't supposed to take anything stronger than acetaminophen UNLESS your doctor prescribes it. Contrary to popular belief, many prescription pain relievers - even those containing narcotics like Vicodin, Percocet, etc. - are safe when taken as prescribed and not used chronically throughout the pregnancy.
Obviously your prescribing doc knew you were pregnant. While their are risks with just about every medication you take during pregnancy, most of the time the risk is extremely slight, and when you weight that small risk vs. the benefits you receive from taking them it makes it worth it that teeny-tiny risk.
Please talk to your doctor more about your medication if you still have questions. There are a lot of medications that list in the warnings that they should not be taken by pregnant women *unless directed by a physician. Most of the time these meds still are safe to take despite the official warnings on the label.

There is a tiny bit here on the use of tramadol while pregnant and it says that if you get pregnant while taking the medication you should see your Doctor immediately. I don't know if it is a good idea, but you really need to see your Doctor about it, not ask us.

i know that some painkillers are ok to take, my doctor gave me vicodin if it is taken in the correct dose and time frame then it is fine. i once knew someone who was on medically prescribed methadone through her entire pregnancy. most likely your miscarrige was not caused by you taking painkillers i have seen women smoke drink and do drugs and have full term healthy babies. it does not make it ok my any means and i would slap a chick in the head if i saw her do drugs while she was preggies but it just goes to show that peoples bodies are different and just because you might think it is bad the doctor would never tell you to do anything that would endanger your baby

You should be fine, but just in case, ask your Pharmacist. When my Dr. is not sure, he tells me to ask my Pharmacist and actually he's right because they have to keep up on all the new meds, contraindications, side affects etc. My Dr. has a Pharmacy connected next to his practice and I notice him consulting with the Pharmacist many times.

The only pain killer that I could take was Tylenol nothing else but if I was you I wouldnt ask this question here, I would ask another Dr, I hope this helps. and I would stop at this moment taking them, until you know for sure, oh and you should take the pain for now because when you have that baby, you'll need some real pain killer.

If your doctor is aware of your pregnancy and your past medical history and still feels that it is okay for you to take these meds; I would be comfortable with taking them.
If you have any questions about this drug, you really need to discuss it with the doctor handling your prenatal care.

My doc says nothing but tylenol!...I get bad headaches and still says No to other pain meds. Every doc is different...I would actually come out and ask your dr how safe the drug is and what are the possible adverse effects to the medication.
