I hate wearing tights!
Have you spoken to your employer about this issue because I'm sure they can't insist on you wearing a skirt, I think you will find there is some kind of law about it.

I wear hold ups for work, they are five pounds a pair (Aristoc) but if you ladder one you can replace that one not both. I agree with you that it is expensive, there are plenty of cheap tights in the supermarkets though, but their fit is not always as good as Aristoc or Pretty Polly. Earlier in the year I bought a few pairs from Boots and every pair pulled apart where the panty joined the leg, a complete waste of money. If your puppy is savaging your tights, take them off as soon as you get through the door, (or get rid of the puppy! LOL)

Well my parents pay for my clothing mostly, but whilst at school if my tights are damaged i just pay for a new pair myself. Best thing might be to buy heavy 60 denier or higher tights as these are thicker but last longer than the sheer ones. And no, don't varnish your legs!

Buy a higher quality brand and then take them off as soon as you get home so your puppy doesn't get at them...also, the cobblestones around town shouldn't be a problem, as you should be wearing shoes...
Clear nail polish does stop a run from spreading, but only for so long...
also, look into the spray on tights that you can buy nowadays

Opt for a thicker denier. Start being a little more careful too. Usually if your careless it is more likely to snag and pull the tights. It may also be worth thinking about buying a multipack box of tights, that are not so expensive.
Tescos and sainsburys do their own value range. Ok the elastic on them is slighlty more looser and the colour range is not chooseable. But you may find yourself making savings.
Agian, one of my tips i do place out for women whom wear tights, is also to perhaps consider a hour on the tanning bed, this way, you wont worry about your milk bottle legs showing through any holes. And carry a bottle of clear vanish with you to seal any mishaps.

I paid £5 for a pair of red fishnets, they lasted all of about 4 hours, i danced a hole into the toe! They were really nice too. I suggest buy a pack of 5 from asda the cheap ones that really dont matter if they ladder. I find the thicker the denier the longer they last too.

I have heard that freezing your nylons before wearing does something to them that will help them not to run.
I have also seen some women wear small foot socks over or under their nylons that should prevent wear from your stocking rubbing on your shoe.
Also true tights, not nylons, should be more durable.

I've heard that clear nail polish can stop runs, but I have no idea of how else to keep them whole.
