thank you for you responses and dear ezygoin_newyorker... i liked the last 2 paragraphs of your answer , quiet alot of guys don't understand this truth.... and next what u see when you visit a country is the outer picture, very superficial, what goes on behind the doors...can only be brought out by people who witness it or experience it... i belive when you are a guest, the host behaves in the utmost acceptable way, won't he??? he will never show the negative aspect of him... this is what happens, outwardly these guys behave as the best of gentlemen, but their morals are so sick

Yes you can expect such from a software eng. working in a MNC as these guys are getting salaries which these MNC's were not here in India they would NEVER EVER DREAMT OFF. I'm sorry to use such hard words for these MNC's employees as they have not seen the pitiful days their parents experienced during their youth & beginning of career as now once these guys get a degree or diploma for software studies they are getting salaries in high five figures & even more per month, these guys start thinking themselves as big lords & behave in this rude & indecent manner even with their own family members & worst with their own spouse. Once these guys get summon/notice/warrant issued from the court for cruelty against their spouse under section 498A of the Indian Penal Code, they come out here in this very forum crying loudly on top of their pitch against the provisions of section 498A IPC or they join some silly organization protesting against the use/misuse of this provision of law in India. This whole process of insulting their wife by such guys & even use of physical force shows the rustic mentality they have, but unfortunately they are employed in MNC's & enjoying unlimited privileges out there, otherwise they are good for nothing. This all what I can say about such people in India.

Well I am not an Indian but I am also a software guy. The fact that he works at a Multi-National Company is irrelevant. I know a couple of girls who also have been victimized by this barbaric custom of beating their wives.
I am assuming you are Indian by the way your question is worded. If I am correct, I have visited your country many times and fell in love with most of the people and the culture in general. And whereas it is true that it is a male dominated country and that the culture is very rich in tradition, what does that have to do with having the right to beat one's wife?
A marriage should always be a 50/50 proposition and no woman should ever need to be submissive just by virtue of being a woman. Obviously this guy has not learned the greatest gift in the world is the love of a good woman. After all, it would be quite a dull world with just men. And where would we all be without women.........?
If this guy wishes to "prove" his manhood, why doesn't he pick on someone his own size? And regardless of how many "men" participate in this practice, sanity is not statistical. A million people can do something that is wrong but it doesn't take from the fact ................... IT IS STILL WRONG!!!

No human being should be beaten. Be this a child, a woman, man, parents etc.
It's humiliating.
And it's often the case that people who hurt others have experience pain and violence themselves. And later on pass this on to the closest ones, say a wife or his own children.
For his own sake, he must stop this and if not go to a professional counsellor (psychologist, psychiatrist).
Seek help before it is too late.

This man is actually a child emotionally. A child hits and screams to get his own way. This man is doing the same thing. Many women (and some men are abused too) on this planet face this same issue, not just Indians.
This solution takes a shift in attitude, society, women's education, economics, etc. to change.

In the USA, such behavior is considered a criminal act and the man can be imprisoned for it. We also commit, during our marriage ceremonies, to "love, honor and obey" - but here it goes BOTH WAYS. Physical abuse is NOT the right of either partner. As we say over here - "You remain married to this creep because...?" In other words, you have to take responsibility for yourself and get out of this marriage!

No! no! and no! What this sorry excuse for a man is doing is totaly against the law. Noone has the right to physically or for that matter mentaly abuse another humanbeing what is wrong with this man? He obviously has no respect for his wife and without respect you have nothing. Noone owns anyone and we all have the right to live happy and fullfilling lives. I feel for his wife she needs help before he hurts her seriously.

The jerk would probably think that bride burning is ok because it is part of his culture.
It is not right, it is not ok, and just because it is considered 'normal' in some places does not alter the fact that it is simply wrong.
A man who hits a woman no longer deserves to be called a man so far as I am concerned. If I had a friend who hit a woman, then he would no longer be my friend. I would consider him a bully and a coward, and I would not alter that conclusion wherever the hell he was from.

Since Indian guys are obsess in physical punishment with their wife but not all they have tendency according to psycho therapy as Sadomasochism refers to sexual gratification in the infliction of pain or suffering upon or by another person.
Often interrelated, the practices are collectively known as S&M. These terms usualy refer to consensual practices within the BDSM community
Sad to say Indian community is one of them, greatly for the silence of most majority of women not to press charges over their husband. Which is definitely wrong. It is in the culture & tradition of Indian not to do so. No person has the right to punish a wife/children of your own or to inflict injury to them just because they will tell you they are his own wife/child. Children & wife are NOT APPLIANCES nor an iron pot they have rights as human being.
