The question refers to the Christmas song (Do They Know It's Christmas?) written by M. Ure and Bob Geldof.
The 1984 single, performed by the group of world class artists who formed "Band Aid", raised something like 10 million dollars for famine relief in Africa and led to "Live Aid", as well as a number of similar efforts around the world.
Lyrics:
"...It's Christmastime; there's no need to be afraid
At Christmastime, we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world at Christmastime
But say a prayer to pray for the other ones
At Christmastime
It's hard, but when you're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing is the bitter sting of tears
And the Christmas bells that ring there
Are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you
And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmastime
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life
Oh, where nothing ever grows, no rain or rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmastime at all?
Here's to you, raise a glass for ev'ryone
Here's to them, underneath that burning sun
Do they know it's Christmastime at all?
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmastime again
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmastime again..."

For some it's just a day to get gifts.
For some it's a bad day because they miss their loved ones.
For some it's a great day because they are with their loved ones.
For some it's not their holiday.
For some it's just another day without food to eat, so it wouldn't matter anyway.
For some it's a time to celebrate the birth of our SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST~!~
Happy Birthday Jesus!

unlikely, but that is a good thing as being force to buy loads of presents from American shops or China wont help their economic situation of the people band aid is trying to help.

Yes, but that doesn't matter... their intentions are good. Christmastime just means they're that much busier. They may even be feeling like you. You make the first move?
