is it really fair to humanely kill some one who has sadistically tortured raped or burned countless people?

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. I've always felt that would be fair judgement. Interestingly, the public would probably burn to a crisp anyone willing to inflict the punishment on the offender.

When you think emotionally about it, then yes, you feel they deserve the same treatment. But think logically for a moment. What purpose would that serve? Would it discourage others from doing the same? No, serial killers are disturbed individuals who will act regardless of the punishment. So, the main goal is to remove them from society, not satisfy our revenge instincts.

Because we, as a society, aren't as barbaric and heartless as those criminals. We won't stoop to their level. 2D
