There's no doubt about that, China is the next super power. Reality check : Go to your favourite supermarket and pick up 10 manufactured items of your choice, and see how many out of the ten were made in U.S.A.
You'll get the answer.

Although our standard of living is higher than China's. You will notice that the corporate elite have slowly sold out the manufacturing base of production to places like China. So in effect, our standard of living will eventually equalize to what its worth. We, yes, are indebted to China. The United States will not be 'poor' or a 'third world country'...but it will slowly become 'poorer'...and politically will become more like an 'england' jsut as england became to the US....this will happen progressively as the US accumulates debt and its currency devaluates. This doesn't mean US companies will be poor though, they will be very powerful...but perhaps they will slowly be....run...by foreigners...if you know what i mean. to get rid of the debt for example.

Since China has the main manufacturing base of the world, and has a shrewd negotiating style, especially in the acquisition of resources. Its a safe bet they will become the new superpower.

the USA will slowly become more say, like Russia....less idealistic and more cynical after more unemployment and things start to look bleak...and lose 'superpower' status economically. This will probably happen when the world no longer regards it as having any moral highground, as it already does. The US will probably then become isolationist, hurting its economy.

However, the US will still have 'superpower' status militarily....for many many years to come. We will have to just see...how it reacts when it loses its economic card.

btw, if the US went to war with china, all they would have to do is sell their securities and the US economy would go bankrupt.

China can't make goods that are fit for human habitation, haven't you been watching the news. And, when the three rivers dam finally breaks loos, many governed officials will find themselves standing along, with a rope and no tree to tie it to.
The dam has already causing earthquakes, stress avalanches and floods. China a is like a little kid, they do things first to be first, then pay later. They'll never be a world leader, only a follower, like they were in Korea, Vietnam, etc.

I would have thought a united Europe Matt. China has some significant structural problems in terms of economy but the Chinese are lovely, peaceful people in my opinion. Same as the overwhelming number of people are good ... just their corrupt leadership.

China's per capita income is still light years behind that of the US. China is still mostly agricultural. Regardless, as far as business goes we are getting closer to a global economy. Everyone has a choice in how their life is...stop blaming Bush.
