No Gentleman,I do not believe the Universe is a finite sphere.Since the time they were doing Philosophy Technilogy has developed the telescope and Einstein sees the world as a series of fields. If the Universe was finite the would be a beginning and an end.
In Einsteins view Time-Space cannot be separated. If there was no time what conclusion would you draw? That beyond finiteness would be "Nothingness".A pure vacuum.I have read where other bodies existed beyond Pluto. How many planets were known in the time of Plato and Aristotle?
Plato and Aristotle had no idea of Quantum Physics. They had no idea of the speed of light. In fact the average 9th grader probably has a more sophisticated view of the universe than Plato and Aristotle.Compare the views of Galileo and Copernicus with Plato and Aristle.Compare the views of Brahe and Kepler with those of galileo and Aristotle.
What differences did you immediately notice? We now have a heliocentric view of the universe.Planets now have elliptical movement around the sun.Our view of the universe has radically changed.I do not know what to believe yet.But I do doubt that the universe is finite.I wonder if humanity will ever find a conclusive answer before something catatastropic occurs. But for the time being I am going to assume that there is no beginning and no end, even if the planets come to a catastropic change.I am going to assume that time and space has no end(or beginning).I have no knowledge of either. All anyone has is belief.and Faith follows Belief. Up above I did not mean Galileo and Aristotle but Plato and Aristotle.Well we must continue this discussion later Gentleman but I have much to add...Your Always Friend larry m

Current observational data invalidates the finite universe as being the likely case. As to the shape I think there are models that are spherical not sure though. To answer your question no I do not agree. I believe the universe is expanding without boundaries and that there maybe a number of shapes that it could exist as. I have not read any Aristotle or Plato though so maybe I am confused in that I do not know what they mean when they say universe.

before each thing, we do not comprehend no matter if this is finite or countless, and because that we are able to in basic terms relate the the observable universe we are able to not comprehend. We do comprehend that it all started out as a element. Olber's paradox is two hundred 12 months previous good judgment and because that relativity change into got here across it has no bearing. also to the guy that suggested "the universe is flat interior of a million% of accuracy-therfore this is not any longer flat" this is inaccurate. What should be suggested is that No curvature of the universe has been detected or maybe no matter if this is curved it is going to in basic terms be by ability of a small volume.

Of course I do, I believe in the Big Bang; which happened at a finite point in time therefore the Universe has a finite limit.
Since what ever burst forth from the Big Bang replaced the old universe (if there was such a thing) it is the sum total of OUR universe. Those early particles are still speeding out from the original explosion, but they have a maximum speed of that of light which means with a universe only 13.7 billion years old the radius of the Universe is 13.7 billion light years in size.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_the_Universe
Furthermore since we cannot exceed the speed of light we can’t go out to the actual edge of the Universe. We have a set limit of space that we can reach and that limit increases as time passes. So the Universe has a limit, but one that is huge and keeps increasing all the time.
They were also right about the atom as well; since it is the fundamental particle of the universe and its sub particles have to create electrons, neutrons, and protons to become atoms in order to form anything.

not at all the universe is expanding so if it is a finite sphere the everything would get squished on the edges.
of course that might be happening so nevermind about the not at all thing i said ,i dont think one can know these things.

I agree - in space, if you looked through a telescope with GARGANTUAN magnification power you would see the back of your head!
However you also need to consider the macroverse - This is the universe with the added variable of time - each persons every decision creates a branch in the macroverse and is infinte in size

Even my Guru has said that the Universe has a boundary & beyond that there is the space which is boundless.
