Remember - the fraction bar is a divide sign.
Just leave the whole nnumber part and divide the fraction part.
So if you had
5 and 3/4
as a decimal this will be
5 and 3 divided by 4
= 5 and 0.75
=5.75

for whole number no change, for proper fraction change it.
4 2/5 = 4 + 2/5 = 4 + 0.40 = 2.40
123 2/9 = 123 + 2/9 = 123 + 0.22222... = 123.22222....
and so on.
but don't conver 4 and 2/5 into 22/5 and then divide.
4 and 2/5 = 4 + 2/5 = 4 + 0.40 = 4.40
will you do now ?
do 123456789 and 2/5 = 123456789.40
but if you try to convert it into improper fraction first like 22/5 you will be lost.
