All our computers are connected to a server and IT can see when we use the internet. Is there any way of which I can change settings from my PC so they cant check pages I have visited which are not work related?

I work as an IT / System administrator.. and I encounter lots of people surfing the net while on Working Hours...

Now if you have firewall it is impossible to breach the monitoring of your internet browsing activity...

The concept of the firewall is...
When you request for a site...
You pass your query to the Firewall Server
Then the Firewall Server is the one that connects to the internet...
which records every Log Data of requested HTTP's
So if you're on a large network
I'm sure there's a Firewall on your Background...

Now if you don't have firewall...
You can go to control panel > internet options > clear history
that would delete all the records of the sites you browsed on your PC...

Hey sun

You do know that using your work station to surf the net is most like against company polices right? and that legally your employer has the right to check your work station at any time right, and if he finds in appropriate material on your station you can and probably will be fired and possibly arrested right? so why would you take that chance of losing your job, your freedom, for some Internet time? don't do it, if you have a need to look for some thing then ask your boss for permission to surf the net.
Take care and have a great day....cya....

Ahh... network anarchy....
heh... Now, if you get fired, you can't blame me.
If they are using an allow only policy you are pretty much out of luck. If on the other hand they are using a deny policy.
well...

there is such thing as a masking proxy server.

What a masking proxy does is act as the web site that you are visiting while displaying content from other sites inside a frame. In my opinion these services are not only legitimate, but actually go some way towards keeping information free and available.

Again. the IT guys WILL catch up eventually, and playing dumb probably won't cut it.

happy pr0n browsing.

Rule of thumb. If you're not sure don't do it. There are so many gadgets that are internet accessible (palm, cell phones, laptop) think about buying one and surf at lunch or breaks. Although it wont hurt to discuss internet usage with a supervisor.

Try the IronKey. It comes with a version of Firefox on a jump drive that is nearly impossible to tamper with. I believe doing this will keep the files on the stick making it impossible for them to access. The drive is encrypted with a physical chip and only you have the password so a hack would not even work.
