My question is to anyone out there who's got more experience in big mountain riding.
How can I get faster ???
I was told lean on the front foot and place my bindings slightly
more slalom position(downhill racer style).
Being a surfer for most of my life,I find that binding position somewhat uncomfortable,I prefer the 90deg on back foot and -12 or so on front.
I'm 6'2 and 95kg and looooove the deep pow.
I never do parks as they are a bit boring and trendy.
So just need some technique tips on gaining fast speed without too much physical effort.
On average my casual flat line speed is around 60km P/H,sometimes more but it's tricky depending on the conditions.
You often see these little guys looking super casual but absolutely fly past.
Hope some one can help?
In need of more speed!!

If you want to go fast:

1. Longer board with less flex
2. Wax your snowboard more often
3. Make shallow turns - never turn to 90 degrees to fall line
4. Don't skid your turns - learn to carve. This carries almost all of your speed through the turn into your next turn.

Good Luck

If you want to go fast, just point your board downhill and go.

Always stay on an edge to keep control of your board, but don't turn. Go straight, but shift ever so slightly from edge to edge.

You only turn when you need to turn to get where you want to go.

Keep your knees bent, and stay relaxed. This is why those guys flying past you look "super casual," because if you are tense, little bumbs and dips will throw you off.

DONT move your bindings to that lame racer position.

Carving is fun, but turning WILL slow you down, even if you turn the correct way.

one thing you didn't address was waxing your board. Putting good wax on the bottom of the board, and applying it well can speed you up significantly. also, if you're aiming for pure speed, lean slightly forward, and make your body as aerodynamic as possible.
