I was taught to always take your shoes off, when entering a house. In fact, I don't think I've ever met anyone who wears outer footwear around the house. My kids KNOW if they walk in with their shoes on, they're the next delegated floor washer. :)

Off. I wear steel-toed shoes all day while walking, occasional running, pushing, pulling, and climbing up and down ladders etc. It's nice to get some relief when I get home. Oh, and the house I live in has fairly new carpet, so They're pretty anal about keeping it clean at all times. I now prefer a house that has a worn-out carpet, or Berber carpeting.

I'm always barefoot, indoors and outdoors, but I don't care what others do. I don't really like any shoe or footwear rules; it should be clear to anyone who reads these barefoot questions that there are people who're just as uncomfortable taking their shoes off as I would be wearing them. Why would I do that to them? A house is meant to be lived in, and my cats don't even wipe their feet when they come in... only when someone would have very muddy shoes, I'd ask them to do something about it, but whether they take their shoes off or use the outdoor hose is up to them.

off but not always,we have shoes on early in the morning when cleaning as it gets warmer as well.we also have them on at night when it gets cold. This keeps the house clean during the day and limits chances of getting colds early in the morning and @ night.

Off, the second I come in the door. I'm in my socks right now, and my feet are super comfortable! My floor stays much cleaner too.
