No. of rainy days = x
No. of sunny days = 8 - x
8(8 - x) + 4x = 60
64 - 8x + 4x = 60
- 4x = - 4
x = 1

1 rainy day

let s be sunny days and r be rainy days
There are 8 for each sunny day, 4 for each rainy day, and 60 in total, so:
8s + 4r = 60
divide everything by 4 just to simplify and get: 2s + r = 15
now, with 8 days in total, that means s + r = 8
rearranging: r = 8 - s
subbing that into our simplified equation: 2s + (8-s) = 15
and solve from there: s + 8 = 15
s = 7 so there were 7 sunny days and 1 rainy day.

1 day of rain.

7 days of sun = 56 nuts (7x8=56)
1 day of rain = 4 nuts (1x4=4)

56+4=60 nuts

4n + (8 -- n)*8 = 60 => n = 1, so 1 rainy day.
