I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant & I'm 152 pounds already.
My pre-pregnancy weight was around 115-120. Is this too much or just right? Thanks!

If you began pregnancy at a normal weight, you should gain 25–35 pounds over the nine months. Adding about 300 extra calories a day to your diet will help you reach this goal. (One extra healthy snack, such as four fig bars and a glass of skim milk, will provide these calories.) Most women gain four to six pounds in the first trimester, and then average a pound a week in the second and third trimesters.

If you began pregnancy underweight, you should probably gain a little more. That's because underweight women are more likely to have small babies. A 28- to 40-pound gain is usually recommended, so you should try to gain slightly over a pound a week in the second and third trimesters.

If you began pregnancy overweight, you should gain only 15–25 pounds. This means you should put on one pound every two weeks in the second and third trimesters. While you don't want to gain too much weight, you should never try to lose weight during pregnancy because that could harm your baby.

It depends on your height to categorize which level of weight you fall in. You can google a weight chart to find out which one you fall into.

You should also factor in water weight gain and swelling. I gained 35lbs and I was already overweight, but I also had very very swollen feet and legs.

For a woman of average weight, they should gain a total of 25-35 lbs. An underweight woman can gain more, 28 to 40 lbs and overweight woman should gain less, 15-25 lbs.

Of course, that's just the healthy ranges, your doctor can tell you if your weight gain is too much or too little.

i think some people tend to gain more than others... talk with your doctor if you are concerned...

i'd think if your blood pressure is normal and everything, you should be ok!

just eat right and walk or keep active if you can... don't overdo it though.

i'm sure you have cravings too..

congratulations and i wish you all the best, hon! take care

I've always heard a pound a week for a total of 35-40.

Ask your doctor.

25-35 pounds is appropriate unless you're extremely under or overweight, and then only your doctor can say.

You've already gained all of your pregnancy weight and your baby doesn't even weigh two pounds yet...Good luck getting it all off.
