yes I did and I expect it to be better than AMD's upcomming 45nm fab.

in fact now intel has roll out their Penryn chips with 45nm, and they have 3 fab lab to fabricate them. AMD will be in trouble, they need to retool their existing lab to 45nm fab, and while they say by 2008, i think only by 2009 they can produce 45nm by the masses.

next year, intel will have new architecture. the quad core will share same L2 cache, and for the first time ever (yes, because 45nm allows more components to be intergrated into the CPU die), intel will intergrate the memory controller into the CPU. Intergrated memory controller + large cache size = killer CPU

Where are we going? multicore techonolgy, superscalar, ultrascalar general purpose CPU

graphic card GPU are now already ultrascalar processors, and their working units are becoming more and more closer to general purpose SMP. That means, one day we can create a super ultrascalar processor, (maybe thousands of SMP), and this processor will do both general processing and graphic processing as well...

It's simple.
CPU = general purpose, but slowly gaining parallelism (multiple parallel cores)
GPU = High parallelism, but slowly evolving towards general purpose working units (SMP)

They both are evolving towards the same direction.

but really computers have been doubling in speed every two years since they came to life, if revolutionary new technology just means the same stuff crammed in to a faster processor, then it is maybe slightly better than par for the course.
Now, show me true process distribution amongst cores on a hardware level...
