What is the sex ratio in your state or country?

I read in a health course in college that in the entire world there are more females than males. I was also told that some countries intentionally kill female children for a number of reasons, and do to this, those countries have a lower average of this figure, sometimes evening it out, and others causing the opposite to occur, with more males than females.

Here in the United States, there are about two women to one male. This is also the average in other countries which do not kill their female offspring.

For centuries, this statistic has been used to justify the need for a male to have more than one spouse, that if he didn't, many women would not find husbands. Many years ago it was very much a neccesity for a woman to marry. It was for reasons of safety as without a male to protect and find meet, she would not survive. I do not believe this is a good excuse, because up to a few years ago when medical care became highly advanced women died in childbirth at alarming numbers. Women would often not live past their first childbirth experiance, so would die at a very young age and in a very painful manner. The man would then marry another woman, and this was far more affective in providing husbands for women than a multiple marriage would have.

I doubt many understand that the world holds more females than males. Men are very much out numbered. lol

I don't know and don't know where to find this information. Haha!! Maddy, I guess I am at that age, where this information is really not important to me. I live in good ol' Texas and there seems to be plenty of males and females to go around for all of us.

I am not sure of the statistics but women outnumber men in my county.
