Can some computer genius's help me please? I have a dell dimension 2400 and need to buy a new graphics card, so that I can play games that require pixel shader 2.0 . So far all I could find through dell was this radeon 9250 256 mb ddr pci graphics card. This is like 80 dollars, is there another brand or something that would be compatible with my computer and still work well enough so I can play the games I want?

The dimension 2400 are rather budget pcs. So you are probably stuck with just a PCI card. There are some PCI cards that actually support pixel shader 2.0 but with your Memory and cpu, your games will lag. A Radeon x1300 should work better than the 9250 and I know they make them in PCI cards. But if I were you, I would not invest any more money on this computer. It is rather old already.

I have included a video card for you that will work perfectly. I can get great frames on many modern games. Hope this helps!

It is better than a Radeon 9250 and supports the current shader model (3.0, 4.0 is next-generation). It is $54.99. The website ships very fast. You won't need to upgrade anything with this card, it uses very little power and resources.

Your PC does not have a true graphics expansion port. You are stuck with PCI. It is SLOW for 3D graphics acceleration no matter what card you put in there. Your PC is more of a business machine rather than a gaming rig. It is not worthwhile spending for graphics upgrade on it.

that computer is really old.. well my suggestion to you is buy a new computer.. it wouldnt be worth it to spend that much ($80) for a video card.. then you need to upgrade your power supply too since the one that comes with the package isnt enough and thats extra $100.. however, you can get a dual core, 2gig, 250 gb hd for $350 now adays.. what games do ye wanna play anyway?
