I'm Asian American and a freshman in college. In the past I had friends mostly of the same background. I did have friends of other backgrounds but just not as much. In high school I was in multicultural groups but mostly Asians still. -_-" Now I'm in college and still I got mostly Asian friends. Maybe I don't approach others because of fear that they will judge me.

What could be the reason? We're all American right? I think for everyone its fear of differences and judgment. DO you think I'm racist for this? What do you think could be the reason? How do I approach others better?

Thank you for reading.

I don't think you're racist. You feel more comfortable around people who are like you and that's not bad. If you feel bad about having more asian friends than other races, the simple solution is really getting out there and making friends with all kinds of people. If they judge you for how you look or your backround, then you wouldn't want them as a friend anyone, so there's no loss to you. And if you gain a friend, that's even better!

Life is short, so don't worry too much and don't see racial differences as an obstacle. We're all brothers and sisters, right? ^_^

No, I don't think this indicates that you are racist, just a lack of confidence. Also, perhaps you are limiting your potential pool of friends because the group of people you associate with is mainly Asian.

I suggest you stop worrying about people judging you and get out into the wider population. Join clubs or take up activities that the majority of your existing friends don't do. You are in college now and the world is out there. Go and try something new and different!

As everyone has said, u are not racist...
U are just comfortable with those that have more in common with u and those who can relate to u more. Your friends probably feel the same way u do...as long as u are openminded and willing to make new friends of other cultures because u truly want to and not because u don't want to seem racist, then u are not racist to me...

No. Racism is the belief that one race is better then another, and nothing else.

you, sir, are not a racist.

Even if you avoided hanging out with black, white, hispanic, etc people dilberatly because they made you uncomfortable, even that would not make you a racist.

You would only be a racist if you felt that one race is better or worse than another race at something.

not because you have friends of the same race as you do...makes you a racist...but if you start maligning people of different races....looking at them as someone beneath you...then you have become one...but i hope you wont....because i know you are a decent person....

personally, i'd like to have friends from all over the world...i think its great to know more about their culture and way of life...i figured if i cant visit all those places, might as well have someone who will help me envision them....i know there are still some people out there who look down on people of different races...but i know there are more people out there who have done away with that kind of thinking...best way to get friends is to be honest, kind and truthful...and be the kind of friend you'd expect your friends to be...

You might be but if you don't hate it doesn't matter. Most of us are more comfortable with our own type, less things to disagree on.

You're probably befriending people who have more things in common with you. I don't think you're racist. 2D
