It's for an old person and it reminds me of The Wiz.

I remember reading in Yehudi Menuhin's autobiography that someone had told him it's always good to pick a name with an 'r' in it, it's supposed to make the child strong or something.
For some other reason though, I really like name Dorothy, just the sound of it maybe. It would be nice if it made a come-back.

personally, I don't like the name, but mostly because I used to work with a woman named Dorothy and didn't care for her much. Do you have a middle name to go with it? Names always sound different with something to go with it!

Personally, no. Though here are some variants:
Dodie, Dot (English), Dorothee, Dorette (French), Dorothea (Greek), Dorotea (Italian, Spanish), Dorosia (Polish), Daschenka, Dorka (Russian)

How about Destiny? Its an odd name to some, but I mean, after I was guaranteed 56,000 a year to play music and test musical equipment I had mine legally changed to Van Damage. What do I know?

well, personally, i dont really care for the name dorothy. i mean i dont hate it, but i dont love it either. i guess on a scale from 1 to 10, it would score a 6.5. i like the names alyssa or alyse, katherine, and jenniffer, but i sort of doubt that any of those are polish.

Dorrie is a cute nickname, but Dorothy seems a little formal.

I'm a fan of old fashioned names, but Dorothy doesn't do it for me.
