I think it can be either depending on what kind of community you're living in or were raised in...

I am a liberal gay democrat who was raised in a rural midwestern Republican county... so yeah, I think for myself.

Likewise, I know conservative religious people who were raised in drug addled hippie communes... They went the other way and that makes them also "thinking for themselves".

Wow - so many people thought your question was asking them about some party affiliation... I think your "of" is meant to be "for"...

I think the day has come where being either should earn you a kick in the ****. As Sting said in a song, "There is no monopoly of common sense, on either side of the political fense." So why would I want to be associated with either? What ever happend to just doing the right thing and doing what's best for our country?

LIBERAL on a republic ( state) level. CONSERVATIVE on a federal level. States rights are the only way to make everyone happy!

I consider myself to be a both-winger.

I believe that we should and can have maximum personal freedom in the US, and that its price is personal responsibility.

I like to be a both-winger because I have noticed that any creature with only one wing flaps around in circles on the ground, whereas those with two functioning wings are actually able to fly.

Both. I'm openminded. I have my liberal opinions and my conservative opinions, but I listen to other's and their opinions as well.

Sweet, I get points too! LOL

How could anyone over the age of 21, living on their own, holding down a job, paying taxes be a liberal?

"If you are a conservative in your youth, it is because you have no heart. If you are a liberal as an adult, it is because you have no brains".

I consider thinking for myself as a liberal trait. I am a liberal/Progressive, and I see most conservatives as regressive. Especially the neo-cons! *sm*

I'm more conservative than liberal. I believe I should be able to carry a gun. I believe in harsh punishments for those who break the law. And I don't believe in "big government" However, the corruption of the right wing keeps me from voting republican.
