By the way. I've tried most of the things most of you have suggested. But the joy they bring is short lived at best. Before long, I'm right back where I was before...

Find something to do. There are lots of people that could use a friend right about now. There are children at your local hospital that could use a visit from "santa", as well as senior citizens that could just use someone to talk to. There are also some singles bars & groups that meet up around this time of year for exactly this reason. You just need to look for them. They usually meet up at the local assembly rooms or churches, but they do exist.

I do know that if you just sit around waiting for something to happen it'll never happen. You make your own happiness in life. If you are looking & not finding anyone, it may be that you are trying too hard. You need to relax & focus on yourself for a while. The more self assured you are, the more people will be attracted to you.

I thought I couldn't stand it for several years but as the years have ticked by it has gotten easier I suppose. I usually pick out something that I have been wanting or something that I really liked and wrap it up for myself and that is my Christmas. Then I count my blessings that i have a few things in my life that are truly good and wonderful. It is a hard thing to be alone anytime but during the holidays it is so much worse. Be careful and don't dwell on the negative of being alone. Think of the postive because even alone there are postive things in everyone's life. If a friend invites you over or the opportunity comes up to go and share with someone then do it. Even if the person is someone that you really don't like. It will help you to remember then just how lucky you are to be alone!!! Good luck

Try going to one of the local shelters and volunteering some of your time either serving meals, helping to put Christmas baskets together, etc. It will get you out and about among other people and you will feel good knowing that you are helping out. Aside from that, seeing some of the people who require free meals and/or free help at Christmas will make you realize how lucky you are that you have a roof over your head, food to eat, a furnace to warm you at night, etc. Sometime all it takes to cheer us a little is knowing how lucky we really are.

Honestly you just have to get through it, if you just take the two days one day at a time you'll see that it's JUST CHRISTMAS, some people have nice little get togethers and you didn't, sucks but don't let it be a huge thing

janicajayne - you're a ***** did you know that? and you tend to leave really useless one liners in all your responses

Put a smile on your face and join some Christmas Carolers. It's a great way to loose the blues and you won't be alone.

I would go visit someone, you must have some friends or family.

If not volunteer at a shelter and you will then appreciate what you do have; and buy yourself a puppy!

Hope things r better for ya this year honey.

maybe make a craft and pretend that there is someone that you will give it to as a gift and hope on it that that someone comes along later and maybe they will.

Go to the shelter and get your free soup, then spend all night crying on the suicide watch hotline.
