I am going for child support so i have been told that he owns properties in 2 local towns. Would my city hall be able to tell me if he is listed as an owner? Thanks for any help!

I do work but when your ex (him) takes me to court to reduce his child support and i ended up getting $34.00 wk for 3 kids, then after all these years he has gotten stiffer by the month ( i gotta ask for the ck every month for the last 6 yrs) and doesn't even buy the kids clothes or shoes but spends his money in cars, new video consoles while making over $230 per day and gets a bonus of almost $8k is time for me to go back to court after all these years. I make money but his own kids can't get even a haircut from him. I have been more than nice and patient.

If he owns the properties in his name, you may be able to find out, seeing as land records are public. Usually the records are sorted by property, not by owners name. They may have a cross reference to see what property someone owns, or you may have to spend days going through each property record!

If he is trying to hide them from you, all he would have had to do is form a holding company, and title the property in the name of that company!

I thought child support is suppose come out of his income? What does his property have to do with anything, and why are you entitled to every last penny that he owns. Do it the legal way and not the cold hearted "B" way. If he refuses to pay and there is a court order for him to pay, then take him to court. wanting to take the shirt of his back is not the way to go.

Edit:
How much do you make? Why are the kids lacking if you too make money? It can swing both ways. Just because he is successful, doesn't mean that you should benefit off of his success. If the agreement was fine when It was made, then why should it be increased just because he makes more money?

Just because the courts felt that he couldn't afford the support at the time, and now he makes more money that still has nothing to do with you.

Rather than City Hall, it would be the County Recorders office. As mentioned above, you can search the Grantor-Grantee index for his name, and it should bring up all property in the County. If the two towns are in different counties, you would need to go to both counties. Also, your local office of child support services should be able to help.

A title company or the county recorder's office will have available the public record of every owner of real property in the county. Ask to check the "grantor-grantee" index. Look for your ex's name on the grantor side and the grantee side. You will be able to see any real estate sold by your ex or purchased by your ex.
