Yes. I have a friend who works as a manager for an AMC theater and he said they do.

One time he busted two teens in the theater that didn't pay. They tried to talk their way out of it untill my friend explained to them that there were absolutely zero tickets sold for this movie and since they were the only 2 in there. So they gave up on the excuses.

No. My boyfriend worked in a small theater in college and he said that if only a few people bought tickets they would not show the film and offered them a refund. I dunno, maybe times have changed and they have to show the movie with or without an audience.

And kudos Joe, that was a freakin' awesome answer!

No. I've actually been to a movie where it was me and two friends and they offered to refund our money because it wasn't worth the eletricity to run the projector for only 3 people.

yes, it still plays...i think the employees hope sometime throughout the flick someone will buy a ticket...you would think they would stop playing it perhaps halfway throughout tho huh? I guess they are not really "losing" money by playin it are they??

They do. If no one goes to watch it, then I assume that the people who work there watch it. They still have to do their job though like stockers at a store have to remain there when no one buys anything.

Yes, the movie plays no matter what. It would just be really quiet. They don't know when nobody is in there.......until they come to sweep up the popcorn and HEY! No Popcorn!
