You are completely normal in my book. As a truck driver, I am often in awe and appreciation of a nice clean bathroom that smells good and has toilet paper. I've often wondered if I'm the only person in America who is so grateful for a bathroom.

I think that you meant to say that you are aware every day of the fact that you are lucky. Perhaps not peculiar, but a little more insightful than a lot of people who have such advantages.
1. You not only have a job, but you are sitting in an office out of the weather and like your office well enough to call it "awesome."
2. You have a warm cup of coffee. Do you know how many of us don't even have that? Some are too poor, some are not set up at their place of business to have a warm cup, and must carry it from a coffee shop, perhaps spilling it, or at the very least finding it awkward to transport, and it's cold or nearly so by the time they get to where they can drink it. And some, like pitiful me, have been warned off coffee by doctors who point out that the acid in it is bad, or the caffeine.
Yes, you are very lucky, and it seems only right that you should be aware of the fact. That many other people take such advantages for granted is sad.

As salaamu 'alaikym, my freind.
Insha'Allah, in Western society as most now live their lives in the same, being able to work from one's office, with luxuries and with the ability to "do as one pleases" would put you well out from the norm.
The majority of those working in this nation are "at will employees", meaning that they are working at the will of their immediate employer and can be fired or terminiated for no reason at any moment.
Currently, the majority of Ameiricans (according to statistics compiled by the US government, the Federal Banking commission and independent consumer groups) are deeply in debt ( to an average of $25,000.00) and are literally one pay check or one financial emergency away from financial disaster and/or ruin.
With the federal government increasing the national debt by approximately 1.4 million dollars each minute (as the same was reported yesterday in published national news reports) and the ever mounting personal debt of most citizens coupled by the our flow of jobs from the US to overseas facilaties and other nations, we face a crisis that may well lead to the complete destruction of our economic system and, thereby cause a collapse the shockwaves of which will literally be felt around the world. The market crash of 1929 will look like a delightful Sunday outing by comparrision.
It seems amazing how many persons either know nothing about this situation or are doing their best to ignore it in the hopes that it will simply go away.
It is also amazing that the national government under the current adminsitration, instead of working to reslove this situation, is trying to enact laws that will provide for greater tax relief for the top 10% of the wealthiest members of this society while furhter penalizing the majority of middle to lower income wage earners.
Sadly, when most awake to this reality they will be standing on a bread line...
Enjoy the coffee and the luxuries.
Ma'a salaam

My department has new offices with better lighting and I actually have more space than before we moved. And despite cost-cutting measures, the coffee is still free.
But it's the people who really make it a great place to work. A top-heavy file cabinet fell over yesterday with a loud CRASH and two dozen people dropped what they were doing to rush to the spot and find out whether anyone was hurt. (A young manager had to dodge out of its way and she got a scare but no injuries.)

You sound like a rare breed indeed. Like to think you were the norm to appreciate what you got but ... seems there are far too many out there who just don't get it. Keep your scruples in tact and you'll have the world by the tail. Great attitude.

Why would you think something so lovely and enjoyable would be peculiar? I think it would be peculiar if you DIDN'T enjoy your office! Obviously your office has really good Feng Shui to make you feel great! So enjoy away in your normalness!!! â¥

No. I don't find that to be peculiar at all. It seems normal. Or at least it should be considered normal to feel happy/lucky to do so.

You are a very lucky person, yes.
Worldwide, however, such luck is far from the norm.

Cheers. But don't tump over the cup of coffee on your pants because you were daydreaming.
It's good to be grateful for the little things. ;-)
