The high taxes placed on goods going to England by King George. Whatever the colonist made, two thirds went to the kng, this was besides the quartering duties (having to support as many as six of his soldiers in the home) and when they left they took enough livestock for foods, leaving the families little, winter or summer.
They were cruel tax masters. Everything came to a head and the colonists decided to send a letter to King George but, it was written in a different way and ended up the Declaration of Independence.
