The Chevrolet Cobalt SS should be at your local Chevrolet Dealer by April 2008.

First of all I agree with D Weed above. Those cobalt super sports (SS) have no power, and the engine is smaller than the stock engine in the LS/LT models. 2.0L SS VS 2.2L LS.

They dropped the SS model the last I knew, due to the whole cobalt line-up is a load of crap. The SS just costs you an extra $1,000 for a smaller engine and 2 S's on the car. This was a poor attempt by Chevy to try to build an economical sports type car, which failed, due to shotty construction of the vehicle. Just go look at a cobalt with an automatic transmission and guess what they forgot. They forgot a transmission fluid check dipstick. The only way to check it is to raise the car, and pull the check plug. Oh, and the standard transmissions use automatic transmission fluid instead of gear oil, the standard transmissions are a combination of cheap aluminum and plastics.

My 06 cobalt still leaks water on the passenger side floor even after the service recall was performed. The standard transmission failed at 16,000 miles due to worn out plastic/aluminum syncronizers, driving at highway speeds it sounds like the windows are down, when they aren't. The trunk opening is too small (and the fold down rear seats aren't much help either). If a taller person is in front forget about having room in the back seat.

The Chevy cobalt is the same vehicle as a saturn ion. Both of which were GM company failures.

Overall Chevy Cobalts are a waste of money. That's why I'm getting rid of mine and buying a Toyota.

Probably should already be at your local dealer. It's almost 2008 now. I would call a dealer and ask, they will know for certain.
