it say that it is not the consciousness of man that determines his being but the mode of production that determines his consciousness .....can somebody explain these to me???

Forget it, we live in a democracy or republic form of government if you want to get right down to it. That sounds like we are all on an assembly line, it sounds like communism, and America is not going there.

The Doctrine of Economic determination is a doctrine propagated by Karl Marx, a major figure in the history of economic and philosophical thought, and author of the Communist Manifesto .

The Doctrine of Economic determination is simply this, when man is born he is born into a certain class, he cannot choose which class he should be born into (An industrial worker or a capitalist) (Just like you cannot choose your own parents) Because of this, his mode of behaviour or how he reacts to certain things or what his attitude are or his certain attitude is towards life is already prescribed for him. This is what he meant by "the mode of production that determines his consciousness"
