(10/9)^x = 5
x ( log 10/9) = log 5
x = log 5 / ( log 10/9)
x = 15.276

Assuming this is (10/9)^x=5, where x is the exponent:
take the log of both sides. By the properties of logarithms, log(10/9^x)=xlog(10/9). Then x=log5/log(10/9),x=15.27

Why not use an x as opposed to * ?
(10/9) x = 5
10 x = 45
x = 4.5
