Whenever I burn a cd and put it in a cd player, there is always a scratching like sound, and it gets worse through each track (not even playing some).

At first I thought it was the CDs, but when i bought a new pack of a different brand it was the same. I dusted out my computer. I'm wondering what to do. Should I take my computer to the Geek Squad and have them fix it?

I have some more details, um. when i eject the tray and put a disc in, it keeps popping back out until like the fifth time.

Should I ultimately replace the drive?

Any destructing sound most especially this scratching sound is not normal. This is maybe a mechanical problem on the spindles is not on track or desaligned.

If you are cost conscious have this check with a technician for alignments. Don't bother to use this again their are 60x CD rom drive could burst to break your CDR or DVD disc.

You must hear now a smooth sound not a tweaking or squekking sound.

Have a nice day.

What speed are you burning the CD at ? When burning LOWER speed, sounds like not enough date getting to drive to write smoothly.
Try to burn audio at lowest speed setting you can in the BURN window

Also check teh AUDIO FILE you are using as a source plays cleanly. If the original files have skipping sounds so will teh CD
