I mean, most people who work for any kind of business have to pass one including Govt. employees. Why should the people working have to be held to a different standard then the ones reaping the benefit from the working class?

Why are people so afraid of this? Pass the drug test, get your check. What exactly is wrong with expecting people not to do drugs?

I see no reason why those seeking welfare should not have to pass a drug test to receive benefits. The down side is that most that receive benefits get them for they children as well, and what a pickle we would be in if parents failed their drug test, and how would we deal with the children.

Now that is only fair. If I have to pass a drug test and random drug test later to earn the money I pay taxes on that goes to their welfare checks they should take the same tests I do.

Your question is basically irrelevant. Welfare was reformed in the 90s. Able bodied people must find work or lose their benefits. The old stereotype of the druggie collecting welfare is something out of the 80s. Maybe you should concentrate on working on yourself and your own shortcomings than worrying non existent people.

why is it unreasonable?
How often are you going to test them? everytime they pick up their checks?
Well just to let you know, those tests cost companies about $200 a pop for urine tests, and about $400 a pop for hair tests.
the cost of welfare to the American tax payer would double.
are you willing to double the taxes you pay just to kick a few druggies off welfare?
Then all you are promoting is abuse of prescription drugs that we will have to pay for through medicaid along with paying for the drug tests!
I'm not!
Heck, some of the taxes you people complain about go for tax breaks to businesses to do drug testing.

No, the welfare should get tested just like a regular working man, even if they don't work. If we are going to give them money so they can have a meager living, we should know if it is at least well placed on someone who isn't going to waste it all on drugs.
It's bad to live off of another man's pay, but it's worse if you waste it....

Who does the body belong to?
You, me, the person walking around in it, or the government?
If the government owns it then test it all you want.
If you are going to pay people not to do drugs, you'll have to pay them far more than a welfare check, considering they make far more selling the things.

Not at all. If you expect the government to provide for you (with the funds they extracted by force through taxes), then it's only fair that you meet certain reasonable requirements.
I think requiring someone to stay clean is reasonable. It is extremely unfair to use the public's money to support your own selfish habits.

We "tax payers" will have to pay for drug rehab. This way they keep taking drugs and hopefully Over dose...one less we have to pay for.

I'm against drug testing period, unless you think someone is high on the job.
Should we give people breathalyzers before they go to work?

Working people are not supposed to question those too stupid, lazy , or drugged out to fend for themselves. We are just supposed to work our a's off and send in our money. You know how much they appreciate the help.
