The light on my Yardman 81/2 hsp snowblower doesn't work and there's nothing in the manual about a light. Any ideas out there?

Remove the lightbulb and check to see if it has burned out. Look to see if the small wire filament is still intact. If it is broken or there are burn marks on the glass, it will need to be replaced. You can get replacement bulbs anywhere that sells automotive bulbs (TSC, Canadian Tire, Wal~Mart etc.). If you bring in the old bulb, the clerks will be able to identify a replacement for you. If replacing the bulb doesn't correct the problem, take a 12 Volt circuit tester and make sure the bulb is getting power. If not there could be a short in the line and it may need to be replaced. If you don't feel confident with this, you can always take it into an MTD service depot or any small engine mechanic for that matter.

Cheezy offers an interesting point.

I'm far more curious about why lawn riding mowers and snow blowers have headlights at all. Certainly it's not a job anyone should bother with at night.

If you don't have a tool to check the light. Cut an extension cord an attache on end to the battery, the other end to the light. (It doesn't matter which wire where). if the light comes on, either the switch or wiring is bad. If the light doesn't come on replace it with a 12 volt light.

I know nothing about snowblowers--but will ask---does it have fuses or a fuse box anywhere?
