Have you ever heard of Big Brother. Oh, they have our best interests at heart though :oP phbut!!!!!!!
As to why we are indifferent to though, I don't believe we are. I'm not although visually you would not see that. On the outside I am a conformist. I have political preferances, I have conservative tendencies, and I am a large supporter of the military, but if you knew me on a personal level, I am not a conformists nor am I indifferent. Also if we were so indifferent why would you ask this question? Obviously that means you aren't yourself. I just believe that sometimes you can make a bigger change by being more quite and influencing those around you, particualry the next generation to carry on works in a certain way than you can by rioting out in the streets, of picketing somewhere. You may make a difference for 5 minutes or a year, but with my children I can make a differance for much longer than that, and that is 4 people to carry on my values and morals. That's doing a lot better.

we are not 'all' indifferent. if we were than the government could leave us alone. until we are all preoccupied with other things than politics, they need to allow more things to occupy us and keep us busy.
b/c some of us care, we are a threat. they may actually have to do some work.
do you really want the government to leave us alone or would you rather that THEY were less indifferent?

The government would leave us alone IF we weren't so indifferent :)
No one cares because it's painful to realize how bad it all is. When people have too much pain in their own personal life, they can't take any extra. It's not so much a choice to not care, it's that they don't have the energy.

The trouble is, there is too much apathy. But, who cares?
