My younger sister ( who's 18 ) is getting married and she asked me to explain to her how someone knows when they are truly with the one. I'm married and should be able to tell her this, but I was never really good at explaining things. Any advice??

Can she picture her life without him?
Does she think about him when she is not with him?
Is she sure she does not want to be with anyone else ever?
Does she trust him?
Does she love it when he's happy?
Does she want to make him happy?
Will she be there for him for better or worse, through sickness and in health?
Many more questions you could think of.
Good luck! Good sister for asking :)

If she's "getting married" then why would she need to ask you how you know? She obviously has mad an adult decision to "think" she knows, right?

Knowing if you're in love with the right person or "truly the one", can't be explained. It's felt through the heart. It's seen in the eyes of someone and the actions they bestow. You have to explain to her that love is; to each, their own. Nobody can tell you how they know and that it will be that way for you. She wont' need to ask you that question, when she is truly in love and knows he's the one....

True love is mutual compromise, communication, trust, and appreciation for one another. It's knowing that you would do anything for that person and love them unconditionally no matter what annoying things they do. It means that you pick your battles because the most important thing isn't always a dirty dish in the sink, it's about the love you share and the time you spend showing it to one another. It's knowing that no matter what this person goes through, good or bad, you want to be there for them to celebrate or to hold their hand. It's looking into his eyes and feeling like all is right with the world as long as you're in it together.

well for one she needs to ask herself if she can be comitted to this person for the rest of her life?
then you need to take in consideration, like it says in most vows, through sickness and in helth if something happens can she take care of him?
richer or poorer? If they live together and things go bad, and money is bad ( wich most ppl deal with this problem) are they going to be able to put up with each other being poor and trying to support a family and so on a so forth without haveing arguments wich could cause a divorce?
you need to ask her if she is really ready for this?
what are her dreams, plans in life? does she plan on going to college? what does her husband-to-be think of that? does he want to jump right into haveing a family? or can he wait for her to be done with school?
some things like that.... u meen its tough to explain it.. i find asking these questions are better... when i got engaged i asked myself all of these questions... and thats what everything is working out for me :) so i hope this kinda helps.

There's no straight way to tell if you love someone, you usually just know, but she could consider the facts. Does she see him in her future? Does she like spending time with him? Does he treat her good? Tell her to follow her heart.

Have her read 1 Corinthians chapter 13 in the Holy Bible. Then she will know what love really is.

I think true love is picturing yourself being with this person for the rest of your life, caring wether or not he/she is sad, wanting to be with them. They are your best freind and you can share anything with them. No secrets. If she feels this way....tell her I said congratulations.
